Angela Fordham had belonged to her parish for many years when Made for More challenged her with something that felt new: the invitation to encounter Christ personally and recognize that every Christian is made for mission.

Mission initially made Angela nervous. The word can suggest something large, public or beyond the ability of an ordinary parishioner. The retreat helped her see that mission begins through dependence upon the Lord. If this is the work Christians are called to do, then God will also provide the grace and courage required.

Angela was encouraged to begin simply: gather a small group, pray, listen and allow the Lord to lead. Mission does not require having every answer before taking the first step. It involves becoming available and attentive.

The retreat also presented listening as a practical form of service. Listening as Jesus listens means receiving the actual person rather than approaching them as a project. This creates a way of sharing Christ that is personal, respectful and rooted in relationship.

Angela valued Made for More because she had not encountered this combination elsewhere. It connected faith with an achievable way of serving the Lord. Sometimes the needs of the Church and world appear so large that people withdraw. They remain Catholics on Sunday but feel unsure how to carry faith into the rest of the week.

The retreat helped Angela reinterpret Sunday worship as preparation. Catholics are nourished and empowered at Mass, but they are also sent. The life received in worship is meant to be carried into relationships, conversations and acts of service.

For Angela, sharing Christ is not an additional burden. It is connected with joy and with the purpose God desires for his people. Made for More helped her see a path from encounter to mission: meet Christ, receive strength, listen prayerfully and then carry his presence to others.
